All Things Must Come To An End – It Is A Sad Day For My Domain Portfolio – This Must Be The Longest Blog Post Title Ever – Seriously It Is

Email Marketing $19/Month!CheapAzz.net logoToday I just received official notice that my very first domain, CheapAzz.net is scheduled for deactivation in two days. I registered the domain on August 23rd, 2004 after two years on a GeoCities website. Remember them? Yahoo announced that it will close GeoCities on October 26, 2009 – just a coincidences I think. It probably has nothing to do with the gloomy doom of CheapAzz.net. Anyway, I digress…

CheapAzz.net was my first domain hosted on a shared server (nine of them in five years according to the Whois record). It was the second phase of the Extreme Ezine and it’s where I began branding myself as ‘CheapAzz‘. Not my proudest moment but no regrets either. It was a learning experience. It’s also where I built my first forum and where I started several safelists. More importantly it’s where I began an online relationship with many friends that I still know today.

CheapAzz.net was never a huge success but it did make it to a PageRank 05/10 on Google and was responsible for proving to me what I desperately wanted to believe – you could make money online. From there I branched off into so many directions I’m not sure where I’ve been or where I’m at. I’m not even sure I’m writing this post. I wonder if I sourced this post out?

Any way, it’s been a blast CheapAzz.net and I bid you a fond farewell. I hope you find success on a dedicated server sitting in front of powerful fan cooling your hot azz off someday.

I haven’t gotten rich from the internet yet but it’s been a lot of fun. And how many can make this statement? “I haven’t had to add a cent to my PayPal account in over three years and it easily pays all of my bills“! Thank you for getting me started CheapAzz.net

    Bye bye Cheap Azz…..

I must say that it’s brave to let go of your first domain! I guess I am slowly letting some of mine slip away but it’s a slow process and strangely a little painful… I just can’t let some things go.

  2. Hi Forest, I kept CheapAzz.net for a long time after I shut the doors because things like links I had coming back to it and email that still trickles in. I’m sure I will run into an old site that I want to log into that I registered using my old email address. I wont remember the password. You know how that works, they’ll email it to me :(

I tend to use my Gmail accounts for almost all accounts and memberships now just for that reason.

I almost kept it for another year. It would have only been around $10 but I decided to let it go. One less thing to think about I guess. I recently had the person with the dotcom version offer to sell that to me. I would have bought it for the right price but I think they wanted $300 or something like that. Far too much for a strange URL with zero keywords and just an empty parked domain. I’m actually glad it worked out that way. I don’t have time to keep up what I already have. I certainly don’t need another site.

I have finally started letting a few domains go as well, Im very careful about it though as I still have some very good two word domains.

  4. Like you John, I have some great ones. CheapAzz.net has no value as a domain and the site has been off line for a long time so no loss at all financially. I have well over a hundred domains now. That’s why I want to get as many as possible earning their keep as niche AdSense sites.

I have one domain name that a part of me wants to give up, but another part of me says “keep it, we’ll figure it out one day.” And there I stand. :-)

  6. Ten bucks a year isn’t a bad price to keep it until you decide Mitch. CheapAzz.net had no commercial value and it just seemed silly to keep it.
