Business Man Rising To The Occasion

As I watch live coverage of  Hurricane Ike hitting Southeast Texas this morning I can’t help but reflect on a story I recently heard on the radio about a success story build from helping New Orleans clean up after  Hurricane Katrina.

An unlikely candidate for business success, Sidney Torres of New Orleans, LA struggled through high school eventually dropping out of Louisiana State University taking the job as personal assistant to rock musician Lenny Kravitz.

At the age of 21 Sidney Torres started to invest in real estate by purchasing property, fixing it up and moving on to the next real estate project. Sidney Torres’ successful real estate career took an unusual twist right after Hurricane Katrina hit in August 2005. Sidney recognized the need for garbage removal and cleanup in New Orleans while local garbage companies had tripled their prices. With his mind for business, Sidney rented a couple of garbage trucks and launched what would become SDT Waste & Debris Services LLC.

No one can deny that part of Sidney Torres’ success has to be attributed to his mastery at marketing. From the sleek MACK trucks bearing the catchy ‘Bull Horns‘ logo to the rock star commercials, Sidney knows how to grow a business fast. Bringing in stars like Lenny Kravitz and Kid Rock to make SDT commercials is just a taste of the marketing strategy used to brand SDT Waste & Debris as the ‘Rock Stars‘ of clean streets.

BrianDHawkins.com would like to salute Sidney Torres for recognizing a need, working hard in the after math of Hurricane Katrina when most were turning tail and building a reputation that is quickly spreading nation wide. Keep up the great work Mr. Torres, I’m impressed.
